FOUNDER - Andrew Johnson


Andrew is the founder and CEO of the Aurora Group of Companies. He has over 20 years of experience in business management. He also has developed a Worldwide business network, lived on four continents and has travelled extensively.

He is a graduate of the University of Johannesburg with a Degree in Marketing & Sales Management and also holds a Professional Post Graduate degree in Marketing. He became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2006.

Andrew founded the Aurora Light Foundation as he feels it is essential for Organisations to fulfil their community responsibilities. With his entrepreneurial spirit, extensive product knowledge, passion for lighting and a willingness to help under-privileged members of society, his objective is to build a Foundation that makes an impact on the world by distributing environmentally friendly, sustainable lighting to the under privileged.

VICE PRESIDENT - Marilyn Johnson


Marilyn has travelled extensively gaining exposure to many different cultures and local customs.

She holds strong ethical values and believes money alone cannot buy integrity, passion and self-respect. She is a passionate believer in working with the people to discover what they really need, helping them find the right tools and approach, whilst always respecting cultures, environments and religions.

Marilyn has a unique insight into understanding the importance of how light is a fundamental human need with the potential to change and liberate people’s lives.

BOARD MEMBER - Mark Comiskey


Mark has over 19 years of experience in International Financial and Operations Management. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton and was a founding Director of the Aurora Group in 1999 and remains the Group’s Chief Financial Officer. He also holds a BSc Degree in Accountancy and Business Economics from the University of Southampton.

BOARD MEMBER - Kecia Barkawi


Kecia holds a Master of Law from the University of Zurich, Switzerland and an MBA from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland. She worked for GAM both in Zurich and Bermuda, where she looked after a number of charities mainly in the cultural field. Thereafter Kecia was vice president at STG Coopers & Lybrand in Zurich where she set up and managed inter alia a number of charitable trusts, many of which were active on a global scale and linked to educational issues and research and development.

In 2004 Kecia set up VALUEworks AG, a specialised Multi-Family Office service provider specialised in Family Governance and Family Philanthropy, it’s affiliate Charity Services LLC was formed in 2009. She is a founding board member of the Zurich Roundtable of Philanthropy and acts as an active and dedicated board member for a number of charities registered in Switzerland, the UK and Liechtenstein.



Born and educated in Taiwan, with a degree in Japanese language, Marie trained as a journalist and was Editor in Chief of Woman magazine in Taiwan. She subsequently relocated with her family to Holland and then the USA, where she continued her work in journalism as a reporter for World Journal, with many editorial reports on Chinese community and charitable activities in New Jersey, China and Taiwan. Marie now supports Aurora’s Low Energy Division.

Marie has a great understanding of both Asian and Western cultures. She is a strong believer that with the appropriate support, disadvantaged people can fulfil their personal ambitions and reach their full potential.
